Why I ask "Why?"

WHY from the beginning
From the time I was able to talk, I was, according to my family, always asking "Why?" While my early memories have a hazy fog over them and are virtually un-retrievable, I do remember one road trip with my Memaw. After a considerable time of asking questions, Memaw promised me ice cream at the next stop if I could be quiet until then. I so loved asking Memaw questions because she always had an answer to my Whys. (Although when I asked Whys as a teenager, it was apparent to me that she usually made up her answers. ;)

So, WHY do I ask WHY?
I have an insatiable desire to understand how things work and how they interact with other things around them. I tend to see the world as being interconnected and thus, crave to know WHY something exists, WHY it's important, WHY things are understood as they are.

WHY am I creating this blog?
I have never managed to keep a blog going. But as a medical student and scholar of life, I feel that I am learning so many intiguing things and gaining insight that might be valuable for others. I am also living in a foreign culture, something which challenges my viewpoints and understanding of the world on a daily basis.

You are welcome to join me as I meander through my thoughts and discoveries on my quest to answer the question "WHY?"
